What's Included

6 Sessions + a BONUS Module with Sandhya R. Jha

Module 1: Breaking the cycle: How to carry the past into the present, and how to change the future
In this module, you will discover how to look at major issues today (immigration justice, Indigenous land rights, the criminal justice system) and begin to untangle them by an examination through the lens of history (we’ll make it interesting, we promise), so that you can be equipped to make a difference knowledgeably.

By the end of this module, you will be able to connect national history with what is happening in your neighborhood.

Module 2: Telling a different story: How changing even our personal stories can help us see the world through new eyes
In this module, you will hear some poignant stories about race in the US and compare them with the stories you were raised with. Sandhya will even get a little vulnerable, sharing some of the hard stories from her own family tree.

By the end of this module, you will be able to tell new stories to help you create justice in the world.

Module 3: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism...which one do I invest myself in?
In this module, the dizzying array of choices on how to be a justice warrior will be eliminated! From the many ways you can make a difference, you’ll be able to choose the one that matters the most to you: cultural competence, racial justice, or anti-racism work (and we’ll narrow it down even further).

By the end of this module, you will be able to implement your one way of working for racial justice with pizzazz and effectiveness!

Module 4: Can I have a role if I don’t like to march?
This module will answer the question: what if I don’t -- or can’t -- get out there in the streets right now? Don’t worry, there’s still a place for you. We’ll look at the many different ways people can be engaged in supporting racial justice work -- and even make it fun.

By the end of this module, you’ll know which ways are right for you at this time so that you can get out of the “freeze” mode and into action.

Module 5: People of Color and White folks...how do we connect? Can’t we always connect?
In this module, you’ll discover the ins and outs of when it is important for people of color and white people to come together and when to do our own work separately. Is this tricky? Yep!! But it is also important to recognize community needs.

By the end of this module, you’ll gain comfortability with the needs of individuals and groups so that you can support one another 100% in the movements towards racial justice.

Module 6: Intersectionality: How all the movements come together
In this module, you’ll discover the power of *Intersectionality*. Of COURSE race isn’t the only issue out there. It can be a helpful issue to start with because for many people it’s the most uncomfortable with so much hidden story.

By the end of this module, you will be able to bring the wisdom of what you have learned about race conversations to other justice issues that you care about.
